Indian festival awards Iran film ‘Kupal’

Environmental feature film ‘Kupal’ has been awarded at the 23rd edition of Kolkata International Film Festival in India.

The film won the Jury Special Award at the festival held from November 10th to November 17th, 2017 in Kolkata, India.

‘Kupal’ narrates the story of Dr. Ahmad Koupal, who is a taxidermist hunter, as he faces a challenge just before the new year.

“You cannot be alone in the world,” Mollai, noted, giving a clue to the philosophical origin of the film, adding that, “The world is a strange place. Here, whoever shoots is the one who gets killed.”

Notable cast members of the film include Levon Haftvan, Nazanin Farahani, Pouria Rahimi Sam, Hossein Shamsabadi, Vahan Salimzadeh and Mitra Asiaee.

The Kolkata Film Festival which started in the year 1995, is an Indian international festival organized by the Kolkata Chalachitra Utsav Society, with financial and logistic support from the Government of West Bengal.
